I keep my western in the same conditions that I maintain most large colubrids. These guys are native to western OK (as am I), and I keep mine in a large 30 gallon glass tank, with a hide box, a large dish of water and a basking lamp as a heat source. I keep the temp. in the low 80's to the low 90's in the day, with about a 12-14 hour light cycle. I had no problem getting mine to eat pre-killed frozen mice and he takes them quite happily right out of my hands. Hope this helps
