In Reply to: UVA and feeding responses in Racers....Comments? posted by Vanan on April 23, 2001 at 16:41:32:
: Noticed something funny about my new racers. I have em in racks with 2 Rubbermaids on each shelf. Funny thing is, all the racers on one side of the rack have eaten and the ones on the right side of the rack haven't. My reasoning is cos I have a UV light on for my garters next to the rack on the left side( the side where the feeding racers are). Could it be possible that the UV light is what is stimulating them to eat and the other ones aren't eating cos they lack UV light? COmments anyone?

I wouldn't eat either if I lived in a Rubbermaid! I'll never understand why people store their snakes like sweaters when half the fun of owning a snake is setting up a natural enviroment for them to live in. Racer are very active snakes and have large ranges in the wild.
