Buttermilk Racers

Alan Tennants book lists a small population of buttermilk racers
in the houstone area but as I recall does not list any localities
east of Houston in Texas. I know they occur in Louisiana,
my question is is the Houston population a small remnant or
is the population more likely to just be undocumented between houston and Louisiana?
