I have several buttermilks that live in my yard/landscaping/ garden area( near Houston). See em 2-5 times a week. Found eggs last year and hatchlings for several years. Also have 5.5' coachwhip that hangs around alot. The coachwhip I caught yesterday was fiesty for just a few minutes and then turned his head sideways, laid it on the ground and played dead.He would not even move when you flopped him around.I took him back to a shed where I found him and he finally took off.Never seen that behavior before.
