Remember, it may be rear-fanged. The speckled racer (D. m. margaritferus), which occurs in south Texas, eats frogs & toads. Try it on small, prekilled mice scent with toad. If possible, drive the roads at night during or right after a rain. Pick up the taods squished on the road, freeze them. The buy a cheap blender (or find one in a garage sale or flea market), drop a couple of toads in the blender & dice 'em up. Then pour the taod juice into an icube tray & freeze toad pops. At you next feeding, thaw out a cube & dip the mouse in the liquid. Eventually you'll want to get it on unscented mice. You may be in luck & have one that prefers mice.
