Hi Glover A.,
: Does anybody keep coluber viridiflavus in captivity?
: Is this snake a good captive?
Yes, I kept this racer some years ago.
It is not the best, specially if it is wild-caught.
Young feed small lizards and geckos, while adults feed also mice.
They are always irascible and biting; besides they are very shy.
They need a big cage: it must be dry and it must have some hiding places, a medium water container and some branches.
The temperature must be of 24-30C during the summer, and of 15-20C at winter (this type of brumation is enough).
This racer doesn't like to be handled: peacefulness is very important to keep and breed with snake.
If you have other questions, write me by email.
