I found one of my female speckled racers dead in her cage this morning. She had been feeding great and was parasite free. Upon necropsy we found that all of her organs including her heart were caked with fat. I had been feeding her a diet of only rat pups once a week. They are mostly frog and fish eaters in the wild so perhaps rodents are too fatty of a meal for them to eat on a regular basis. I will start feeding the rest of my Drymobius a varied diet of fish, rodents, and frogs when available. Has anyone else had this happen?
