A friend of mine from phoenix said that its been unseasonably warm and he too has come by some herps el nino strikes again-jorge:I could hardly believe my eyes when on a recent jaunt N. of Phx. I spied the nasty basking at 1015 hrs w/ a shade T estimated @ 60*. In 30 years in the desert, I have never seen one surface active before April (except when flooded out of their refugia...but thats another story). It was a real pretty red one ~ 1 m long. I flung myself @ it... & as usual,... wound up w/ paws full of spines!
:How these buggers can flow away from clutching paws is truly one of natures finest optical illusions!
