annie, have you tried just sticking a pink or fuzz in its' jaws [not throat] and holding it in there? i do this alot w/ baby cribos and they just sit still for a minute or so then start swallowing. as one item is almost finished, i get the next one lined up and a 'chain' reaction of sorts takes place. i use a business card to get their jaws open for that first one then the rest is cake. after a few sessions of this, they will begin eating on their own. that first one can be tough sometimes though....you just gotta be tougher! good luck!
