Hello! Just to let you know that I recently had the pleasure of spending two weeks on Sanibel Island, Florida. Although my primary interest are Drymarchon, I have always had a soft spot for Racers/Coachwhips. The island has a very healthy population or southern black racers. Saw one that had to be slightly over 4ft. Quite large I thought. They love to sun along the bike paths, and one day I counted 9 adults in the space of a morning ride. One was even found in low bushes about 4ft off the ground. A perfect picture and I didn't have a camera. I also saw one coming out of a gopher tortoise hole. According to some local grounds keepers, there are also coachwhips on some parts of the beach. One that is often seen apparently is about 6-7ft long....Later Dwight
