That was one thing I noticed too. He is only about 4 - 5 feet long and as a Macklots is a relatively slender snake. Aside from the broken skin I noticed the pressure he exerted with the bite. I even had a nice bruise at one part of the bite. Like you said it wasn't a strike like defensive or at prey. I fed him the next day and when I took him out to feed he was no where near as jumpy or aggresive. I think I'll take all the advice and NOT touch mice before I go anywhere near him AND stay away from his neack to be safe.
