:If you are not planning on cropping at all then technically it is better to take the pic at the resolution you intend to use.

:So if you want a 640*480 picture to post online, if you take a 1600*1200 picture and reduce its size, the computer will try and figure out which pixels to remove and average pixels next to it to try to keep the image smooth.

:If you just take the pic at 640*480, what you record will be what you get onscreen with no computer averaging.
