Opinions on Nikon digital

I'm in the market for either a Nikon Coolpix 4500 or 5700.
I have Nikon film SLRs and SB-26 and 27 flashes, and would like to continue with the Nikon line.

I've seen enough sample photos to realize either camera can produce fine shots under good conditions. In reading reviews it seems both cameras suffer with clipped highlights.

What is your experience with either model, and would you recommend it?
