OK, so there's this turtle in my bathtub......

I guess I could be quite misinformed. My vet said she's a painted turtle, and the lady at the pet shop said she's a painted turtle. I looked 'em up on the internet, and she looks like one of them to me. Now, do I measure her shell, or head to tail? Her shell is about 9" and head to tail she's almost 12"
(She diddn't reaaly want to hold still......)What else do you s'pose she could be, if painted turtles don't get this big? I wasn't able to get any decent photos of her, yet, but I'll keep trying.
