at some ponds i used to frequent as a kid (early 80's) i saw as many as 25 eastern painted (this was upstate new york) and once, in florida i saw 32 or 33 florida redbellies (mostly) but i have never seen 47 of any one species basking.
very cool. you should bring a camera witrh you on your route.
