Linda; The fish weren't meant to be part of their main diet. My turtles made them part of their main diet. The fish were put in the tank to brighten things up. I had read that the fish were far to quick for the turtles to catch, and that fish were not considered a staple of wild turtle diet because trying to catch fish expended too much energy, especially when there is usually plenty of water plants, like anachris, for turtles to buffet on.
My point was that the 20 fish didn't last a week, so if my 2 month old turtles could run the fish down and catch them in a 120G tank, then wild turtles could just as easily catch fish in the wild.
Anyway, that was over 2 months ago and I haven't put any fish in since the great massacre.
