: Below is a letter i wrote to NJDEP and NJDFW Concerning construction/restoration plans of a lake in mercer county. does anyone have any insight on the issue? : : I recently read in my local paper about a project funded by the NJ DEP to : clean up Robert Martin Lake in Veterans Park. I agree the lake may not be in its most : beautifull form and it was certainly not mentioned that way in the artical, it was : described as a nasty swamp. But my concern is this swampy area has become home to a : good sized population of Common snapping turtles. I have witnessed breeding, eggs, : and hatchlings in this area along with various sightings of Eastern Painted turtles, and : numerous frog species. My concern is the way this area was described as somewhat : lifeless im afraid there is little care being taken to concerve these animals.
