About the field collecting, technically I don't think you can "disturb" any wildlife. That includes picking them up, positioning for photographing, and shining flashlight beams on them(although you are not allowed to be in any parks after dark anyway). I myself have never had any run in with NJ fish and game but I have heard of the fish and game stopping others that were just looking. You definately are not allowed to collect anything. Where did you move to?
