A bit off topic but figured you might know about species law

do any of you know if it is legal to keep common grey squirrels in NJ as pets? sounds like a dumb pet but we rescued a baby squirrel that fell from a nest this past summer and hand raised it from probably a week old, it had no fur and its eyes werent even open. Anyway it survived and is a full fledged little squirrel but the problem is we cant release it! its so acustom to humans it runs right up to us, it even runs up to my dog. theres no way it would survive in the wild so im wondering if any of you have suggestions or if it is in fact legal to keep the little fella. thanks, bill
