Bringing snakes into NJ

I am going on a trip to another state to do some herping. I am going to catch snakes and lizards, I was wondering if it is legal for me to bring them back to New Jersey or mail them home to a friend in New Jersey.

I am figuring it is legal since people are able to buy snakes and have them mailed to New Jersey.

Any info appreciated
