I was hoping to be the first post, but here it goes. NIAD stands for National Iguana Awareness Day. I wanted to do something about the thousands of iguanas bought each year by people just because they look cute or because they hear iguanas are great pets.
As many good iguana owners know, this is not the case. Pet stores have "seen the light" when it comes to iguanas and just want to sell them to make a profit. They will put a bunch of babys in a 10 gallon aquarium and sell them for around $10 or less to unsuspecting people.
NIAD will take place on September 11, 1999. You can visit the web page at either http://www.niad.org or http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/Canopy/2218. At this page, you will find more information about iguanas and about how to volunteer for NIAD. So far we have over 100 volunteers
world wide dedicated to getting the word out on September 11, 1999. If you are interested in volunteering visit the page. You can find state pages there which will eventually contain the plan for that state. An easy way to get in touch with volunteers.
This forum is a place where people can discuss their ideas about NIAD and hopefully learn something new. Thanks, and lets make this forum a great one.
