:btw, i was thinking of getting UV lights... it will increase the temperature right? and will it be harmful to the newt? It's for aquatic plants...

The FAQs at www.caudata.org/caudatecentral have some suggestions for getting land-bound newts to go in the water. You might try hand-feeding with tweezers. Plants need more light, but I don't think they need UV. You can buy grow-lights for any flurescent fixture, they would be fine, no more heat than other bulbs I think.
