For certain, yes. As long as you are providing a healthy range of temps in a variety of locations in it's cage it will chose where it wishes to rest at will. Thermo-regulating is a personal thing depending on it's state or condition such as cooling prior to or during a shed cycle, warming after feeding (or not), etc. My smallest snakes (taxispilota) prefer to stay warm most of the time. The larger ones move from very warm to warm to cool throughout the day. My 4 pictiventris and yellowbelly seem to prefer to hang out in the cooler sections for longer periods of time than in the warmer spots and the redbelly maybe 50/50. All appears just fine.
