I doubt that anything is actually wrong. First, in the last day before he sheds (or would shed) increase the humidity in his tank, for example a large margarine dish filled with moist shavings/bedding material and add perhaps, an extra branch to rub on. In fact, what you do FOR him to assist shedding is what he requires to do it himself. Remember that snakes do not usually shed immediately after the eyes clear but about 24 hours after. This is when, if the tank is to dry that the skin becomes like parchment and won't slip off easily. Please note: IF YOUR TIMING IS RIGHT - there is nothing wrong with your helping him, all the time!
