I notice my Gulfs climb into their waterbowl most often at night and just after feeding. During the day they spend most of their time basking in the open or buried beneath the substrate. Based on their natural habitat and my observations, I don't think they spend much time in deep water. Instead, they forage in shallow tidal creeks and pools and rely on dense spartina grass for cover.
My Mangroves are a bit more secretive, and they rarely bask openly. I eventually want to set the Mangroves up in a large semi-aquatic/semi-arboreal tank and see how it works out. Maybe I can observe some lengual luring!
