MHD's aren't really very active in the first place. When you need to start worrying is when their colors turn very dark and they stop eating or keeping their head up on their own. They should get a little more active in the spring, but the best way to get them active is to have 2 adults that are male and female. They will mate and be a lot more active together because it gives them something to do other than sit on a branch all day. Good luck
