first cage ?'s

Hi all, I'm building my first cage for my sav and have a few questions
do they did if so how deep do i need the substrate?
i want to use wire for the sides should i use the vinyl covered wire or is regular sufficient
and lastly my plans thus far have it as 6ft long, 4 wide and 2 high good?
