The ambient temp of the habitat is not the danger here Todd. Its the temp at a specific location caused by sunlight being refracted through glass. When light travels from one density to another it bends, so to speak. Glass is not a perfectly flat surface and sunlight can be concentrated. Similar to a magnifyling glass. If the lizard does not move, it is fried. The glass filters out most light above the visible spectrum but can refract visible light and concentrate it. Hope this helps.
