Actually, the mertens is a female. But if for some reason they did cross, that cross(argus/flavi), already has a flattened tail and the mertens already have digging forearms. Color difference is big. Shape is kinda different.

Even flavis, have a flattened tail and if you get them near water, they swim like fish(mertens) F
