I recieved a 20" Female Scarlet King yesterday that was WC approx. 3-4 weeks ago. Upon handling her I could feel 5-7 lumps as she crawled through my fingers. The lumps seem to indicate shes gravid, not just ovulating. I placed her in a large sweater box and placed my 20" male in with her. They began breeding within 5 minutes and stayed locked for 2 hours. What are the chances she already mated in the wild this early in the season? If she is gravid would she mate when shes this far along? If she had not mated would she still produce eggs that would not hatch? I have no experience with WC animals in this situation. Should I continue to introduce the male and allow them to cpolulate? Thanks in advance.
