I've always heard, in general, that it's best to put the female in with the male. I've heard that the male might get overloaded with pheromones and can't find her if he's put in her cage.

That being said, since your talking about hybrids, you might want to put your pairs of non-hybrids together, assuming you have 1.1 of each, and get them interested in the idea of breeding, then right before the act, switch them so they breed with the other species.
