Take your heat lamp and clamp it somewhere kinda close to the ground, like a couple feet away or so. Reptiles are cold blooded so they need heat - When it's on the look out for a basking spot it'll hopefully across this spot. It'll sit there, & give itself away. Keep a look out for it - try putting a hide nearby to sweeten the deal.
