can you explain why the amelanistic gene would affect the appearance of the snake BEFORE the hypomelanistic gene would have a chance?
I didn't mean to say that. I don't know whether one effect would occur before the other, or whether they'd occur simultaneously...at fertilization, for example, and they'd manifest themselves progressively through development. But even if one occurs first and then the other, i don't see why it would matter.
