see sept issue of 2002 reptiles magazine. it's got the histories of each of the morphs.
the price of anerys started high, declined some, and then bounced back up when amels appeared, for the reason you suspected: people wanted them (again) to make double hets in the course of achieving snows. Now prices are back down to their lowest level, which is what should happen over the course of an animal's, or a morph's, history--as numbers increase, prices go down.
