I've always felt that the reason they are so prone to "get fat" is that they are generally kept at lower temps but fed the same amount as a comparably-sized snake. Even in a 6 foot vision, my old big male didn't crawl much. I've got young ones now that are really active when not digesting. They are pistols to handle but look and feel muscular and taut. But they will be calm and lazy snakes as their stripes fade.
