I haven't run into that problem with mine as of yet, but I've been told that giving them a quick brumation sometimes breaks it. Basically, the snake is expecting brumation, might as well give it to him.
However, given that he's already looking weak, I'm really not sure. Maybe try more appetizing food, something a wild king would more readily eat (i.e., a reptile). Just a guess...
