ISLAMIC REPUBLIC NEWS AGENCY (Tehran, Iran) 01 October 00 Exhibition of Iran's snakes opens in Yazd
Yazd: The first exhibition of Iran's poisonous, semi-poisonous and non-poisonous snakes opened here on Sunday.
One hundred snakes of different species are being displayed at the exhibition. Pictures of snakes eating food or hunting are also shown at the exhibition.
Exhibition director, Seyed Kazem Moazzan-Zadeh said the objective of exhibition is getting the people acquainted with the role of snakes in striking natural balance and preserving the environment, promotion of education in the field and preventing the unchecked hunting of the animal.
He said there are 60 species of poisonous and non-poisonous snakes in Iran.
The exhibition which will be open to the public for 20 days has been held with the collaboration of Iran's Department of the Environment, Yazd Governor-General's Office and the History of Natural Science Museum.
