Hello Shir:
It sounds like you may have found a Caspian Terrapin (Mauremys caspica caspica). They are very undemanding and live quite well in captivity. Water, a basking place, and a light are all they need. They are a hardy species and will eat fish, insects, Floating food sticks and some vegetation. Good Luck!!!
