well...that's a subject of great debate hehe. I personally use bed-a-beast during breeding season because it stays moist enough that they eggs don't dry out before I can get them into an incubator but during the rest of the year I use reptical calcium sand. its attractive, easy to clean, is more like their native enviorment and best of all you don't run the same risk of impaction that you do with regular play sand. since its calcium based its actually benificial if they have a mouthfull now and agian, though I keep a calcium dish in with mine nonetheless. you also might want to try slate if you are concerned with appearances or paper towels if you aren't. hope this helps!
