I bet quite a few more eggs hatch in the wild than people believe. The female more than likely lays them buried under ground in a place where they recieve an amazingly steady temp with not much more fluxuation than an incubator. She also lays eggs in clutches of two in many differnt spots over her laying time bringing up the chances of differnt clutches hatching or predation not taking the whole nest. Also wild eggs are probally tougher in the sense that the parents have not been exposed to the years of captive care that our loved little ones have. Just my thoughts. : )


:..in their native habitat that there would be even more extreme temperature fluctuations due to the differences in night and day temps in the high desert regions.
