I had been using orchid bark, which was nice, but I heard could cause impaction. So I switched to moss (some bagged kind) and it starting smelling strong quickly and since I have a finicky nose, it had to go. I have now replaced with paper towels. I haven't tried peat moss yet because it is so dusty, but other mosses can be stinky - just a warning.
