I posted a few days ago about a deformed egg that was fertile. And the clutch mate to that was looking great. Well the deformed eggs clutchmate colapsed like it was going to hatch and when i got home i noticed a pip. So i waited until today and it still fadn't hatched. So i toced the egg to see if it was just sleeping and it didn't move so i waited a while and kept cheeking on it and finally decided either the baby is dead or 2 tired to hatch. So i very carefully cut the egg and found a very small(smaller than the normal small hatchling, about 1in.) and slightly deformed(eyes werent fully formed and head was shaped weired) dead baby. I figure no matter what i could have done it was natures way for the baby not to make it. The baby was actually due to hatch today! and now the deformed egg has mold on it so i will keep it for about a week past it's due date because it is still glowing red.
It was her 2nd clutch of the year and the first gave me 1 halthy buestiful eating machine. I think i'm gonna have to keep him! He weighs 6 grams and is only 3 weeks! Is that big? So i guess i have good news to seeing how most peoples 2nd clutch arn't even fertile! Any idea why the baby was so small and underdeveloped? Thanks 4 everything.
