Potential Breeding in Maryland, who do I talk to?

Okay, my family is interested in starting a small breeding business out of our home in a southern Maryland suburb. How would we go about enacting this and making it official? Honestly, it may not even pan out, but we're hoping it will. Would there be any reason that it might be illegal to operate such a business, or can we simply start breeding the animals and selling them since we are not on a large scale (we probably will not deal with much more than 10 snakes at a time barring offspring). Any and all help is GREATLY apprciated because we are all very excited, and we would not want this to be squashed by laws we weren't aware of.
