WORCESTER EVENING NEWS (UK) 19 February 03 'Illegal trade will grow'
A woman who has spent the last six years rescuing reptiles claims illegal trade will increase if shows dedicated to the animals are banned.
Debbie Wickett, of Matchborough, who runs Reptile Fantasia, rescues and also keeps her own reptiles, including snakes, lizards, spiders, tortoises and frogs.
The reptile lover has hit back at claims shows held by the International Herpetological Society should be banned on animal welfare grounds.
Mrs Wickett, who is a member of the IHS, said preventing reptile shows would force them underground and increase the amount of illegal trade.
