we had to have of our Pet Store. Here is some interesting info.....not only did we have to have all the necessary liability insurance but also a 5 million ( yes, I said 5,000,000 ) umbrella clause for anybody that was killed on our property even though we were sub-leasing our store through another leasee. This was maditory through our leasor from the building owner. Although it wasn't that expensive, it would keep us clear of any problems. Now I don't know if this was our citys' critera , states or what. it's been to long ago.

:It may depend on whether the state has strict liablility or plain liability on animals. If it is strict liability, you are liable if they freak and walk off the curb without the animal ever touching them.
