there is a lot of confusion because of differing agencies having different jurisdiction.
In brief, you can't own a life-threatening reptile. This is vague but when you syphon through case law and real wording of the Illinois Dangerous Animals Act it means: no venomous, no crocodilians over 4ft, constrictors over 14ft. Of course, each county and city may have their own regs. Even housing associations may have it listed in their bylaws. E-mail if you have specific question and I should be able to help you.
