: Yes and no, knobs are a maxican mtn. king snake, but agalmas are too, which are san pedro mtn.kings, they are in the zinata family, and knobs are in the pyromelena family. And also, greeri, which is the durango mtn.king is a mexican mtn.king, thats why people should lable snakes carefully, cause saying mex.mtn.king could mean a couple differnt sub-species. Most of the time Mexican Mtn. King refers to L. p. knoblochi.
L. zonata agalma is usually called the Baja Mtn. King, they don't occur on the mainland.
L. m. "greeri" is usually called the Durango Mtn. King, it and it's close relatives the San Luis Potosi King and the Nuevo Leon King are sometimes refered to as Mexican Kings.
A more proper common name sometimes used for L. p. knoblochi is the Chihuahuan Mtn. King as they occur in the mountains of the Chihuahuan desert.
