A 20 year old king is an old snake. Snakes will shed more often if the bedding is dirty and/or too moist...if this is the case the belly scales would also look inlarged (blister disease). If your snake retained an old skin, he could have thrown himself into another shed cycle to get rid of it, as in the case with blister disease. I would make sure you got rid of any old skin that is on him, and watch him closely during this next shed cycle.
