Shedding question or two

My knoblochi is looking miserable getting ready to shed. He is 3 years old and shed many times. But I didn't have him then. This is my first experience with a shedding snake. He has a crock for a water bowl. He has never gotten in it that I know of. I added a plastic container with a hole in the lid and some wet paper towels but he has not gone in there either. I suppose he knows what he is doing but I see where some folks put their snake in a bathtub and soak them. Is this necessary? Or will nature take it's course in it's own time? He has turned an awful shade of blue and must be close to full shed. Is there something else I should be doing? I am skipping his normal feeding this week. Is that OK? Thanks.
