Oddly defensive behaviour

My girlfriend's 4-5 month cali kingsnake escaped and returned after two days. Ever since she returned, she's been acting strangely, musking when trying to hold, and acting all wacky. She's been the nicest animal I've ever seen in the past, being docile and nice from day one. So does anyone have any idea what's going on here? Also, it seemed to me that she was actually smaller than she used to be. But that might be because I'm used to seeing my male cali king in action.
